Residency position in Small Mammal medicine and surgery (Ghent University, Belgium)
Minimum qualifications:
· The candidate must hold a veterinary degree and preferably have graduated from an EAEVE-approved veterinary school.
· Experience: a minimum of one-year rotating internship or two years full time equivalent clinical experience in general practice. The candidate should have an interest in practicing clinical medicine of rodents, rabbits and ferrets, and previous clinical and pathological experience with small mammal species prior to commencing a Small Mammal residency will be valued.
· Working knowledge of English is essential, working knowledge of Dutch is expected to be gained if not yet present.

We offer:
A three year (subject to regular evaluation) residency in a vivid clinical working and learning environment with a large enough caseload which will enable the resident to gain knowledge and experience in clinical medicine and surgery of small mammals, with an emphasis on rodents, rabbits and ferrets kept as pets, but also including other non-conventional small mammals. The resident will also carry out research regarding small mammals and participate in veterinary student training. The resident will prepare for the ECZM Small Mammal examination. Residents are offered a student scholarship (tax free) of 1850 euros per month.
