The Department of Equine and Companion Animal Clinical Sciences of
the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Liège, Belgium, offers
two full-time positions in zoological medicine, starting October 1, 2018.
 
Candidates will take primary care responsibility for birds, small mammals
and reptiles in the Veterinary Teaching hospital. They will be in charge of
clinical teaching to students and interns, and they will be involved in the
evaluation process. Time dedicated to research will be provided. Career
evolution, in the form of a permanent position of Lecturer will be possible
for candidates with PhD and Diplomate ECZM titles.
 
To be considered for this position, candidates should ideally be boardcertified
(Dip ECZM), or should have completed a residency in the
specialty. However, any individual with a strong interest in developing
zoological medicine will also be considered.
Knowledge of the French language or willingness to improve French
language skills is required in order to efficiently communicate with
owners, students and colleagues.
 
The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Liège is located
outside of the city center on a hilly slope which represents the start of the
beautiful Ardennes. A new companion animal clinic is in construction and
should be inaugurated in April 2019. The part of the building dedicated to
zoological medicine will consist in separated consultation rooms and
hospitalisation units for birds, small mammals and reptiles. The unit will
be close to the medical imaging unit and to the operating rooms.
